Mary Shelley Frankenstein

Let me start by saying that the book personally was a hard read. I took me a while to get though the hurtle of really understanding the language, but once I got into it the book was charming. And dark I found myself really liking Victor at first. The journey through his education, his thirst for learning his extreme passion was very relatable. The symbolism for his the inspiration is my favorite part. After witnessing true destruction from the lighting hitting the tree. Cutting to his meeting with the stranger that suggested he learned real science. His quick to learn intelligence is to be expected. We all know that he created a monster. I would be an interesting twist if he had to work really hard and maid a lot of mistakes. I digress the birth of the monster was something of true gothic horror. When victor abandon his creation. Well again to be expected. I just keep thinking that Mary Shelly book is the embodiment of an abortion gone wrong. For example the unwanted pregnancy the birth of a child unwanted. And that literal monster taking your entire life away. Its true horror. I mean his brother dying, and him finally getting married. I mean the monster was interesting and complex, but I couldn’t help but think his reasons to take revenge on his creator to be immature. He is a baby with a gun. The monster never thought himself as human so he would never understand his creator’s point of view. In conclusion when victor died which was the only way this book could end. There was going to be no happy ending here. The monster leaves in the exact opposite as he came not with a bang, but with a whimper. Walking away never to be seen again. His future forever a mystery. Overall the book was good. It was a good example of what gothic horror should be in essence, but the book was just alright for my taste.
