Anne Rice's Interview with a Vampire
Well interview with a vampire has always been interesting. I
never read the book until now. And I have watched the movie. When it comes to
gothic horror I never really l think of vampires. I think of something like Blood
Bourne the game. But that is more Lovecraft and gothic horror. I digress the
book was weirdly peaceful in its day to day then horror aspect. I never really
like Lestat just being the over looming figure of death and change. Then the protagonists
run but let’s not forget to set everything on fire. Which is a noticeable
pattern. I suppose the author did that to symbolize rebirth change. Maybe even scorched
earth. Another gothic aspect was a character and until this book never really
accorded to me that a girl that’s a women. Be down rite creepy pathetic dark
all at once. You petty her and to be honest when she was burned alive. I was
happy since she didn’t have to live as a girl with the mind of a woman. Which
sounds like its own ring of hell. The interviewer at the end also caught my
attention asking predictably to be turned into a vampire and I was happy to
read. That Louis was going to leave him for dead. In conclusion the book was an
interesting read. With gothic characters with dark interesting background. The villain
was boring and barely relatable. But overall the book held my attention
entertained me on its gothic aspects nothing more to it.
